Display Cabinet for Sheffield's Lord Mayor

My students and I made a display cabinet for the Lord Mayor's Office:

Maundy money presented by Her Majesty the Queen when she visited Sheffield in 2015 will take pride of place in the Town Hall permanently thanks to talented Sheffield College students.

Her Majesty first presented the maundy money to George McDonald, former school governor and long-time agent of Sheffield South-East MP Clive Betts, when she visited the city during its Easter celebrations in 2015.

Today’s recipients of Royal Maundy are chosen because of the Christian service they have given to the Church and community.

At the ceremony, which takes place annually on Maundy Thursday, the sovereign hands to each recipient two small leather string purses.

One, a red purse, contains – in ordinary coinage – money in lieu of food and clothing; the other, a white purse, contains silver Maundy coins consisting of the same number of pence as the years of the sovereign’s age.
